Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is named after two holy, spiritual & faithfully major places, Mt. Kailash & Lake Mansarovar. Mt. Kailash (6,638m), familiar to Hindus as Kailash Parvat is the greatest holy mountain of Asia. Hindus think that the mountain is the house of Lord Shiva & his family. Not only Hindus, the mountain is holy to Buddhist, Jain and Bonpo religions as well.
Buddhists think that Mt. Kailash is the house of Buddha Demchok and Bon, a religion in Tibet believe that the mountain is the seat of all religious power. In Jainism, the site is the close by place where the first Jain analyst Rishabhadeva attained Nirvana (make public). Circumambulating the mountain (parikrama) on foot, and very old custom of attachment is still adept by pilgrims with a belief that it will carry good luck in life time.
Hindus and Buddhists believe rounding the mountain in clockwise pathway where Jain & Bonpo religions followers trust in other way around i.e. anticlockwise.
Another main highlight of Kailasg Mansarovar Yatra is Lake Mansarovar, the highest freshwater lake in the world (4500m). Pilgrims think that drinking water.
