Helambu treks are the best short and close trekking destinations from Kathmandu. Helambu trek is an ideal trekking destination people with limited time to spend vacation in Nepal. Despite of its closeness with Kathmandu valley, this region still remains untouched by the modern civilization. Helambu is situated 72 km north-east of Kathmandu offering dense rhododendron forests, diverse range of stunning green valleys, breathtaking views of  snow capped peaks and the incredible Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist cultures.  The entire trail of Helambu trek leads to the dazzling glimpse of Himalaya and local culture with villages inhabited by Tamang and Yolmo village where trekkers can observe their culture similar to Tibetan natives of mountain people of Khumbu and Tibet. Helambu region people are local farmers with traditional handmade wooden plow and pairs of water buffalo which looks completely a rural country life, this trip offers  an opportunity to familiarize  with local Yolmo and Tamang people are very reputed for their grand hospitality and rich cultures including their rituals, traditional architectures, and costumes.

This trek is comparatively moderate with gradual short hours walk with lower altitude ranging from 800m / 2,625 ft to 3,600m / 11,811 ft. This trek begins right from Sundarijal and concludes at Melamchi Bazar or Vice Versa.   The drive takes just an hour and the trail of trekking enters to the Shivapuri National Park leading to the village of Gulbhanjyang, Tharepati and Melamchigaon of Helambu region, then trekking via Tarke Yang, Sermathang and finally reaching at Malemchi Pool Bazaar for the drive to reach Kathmandu valley. This region gives you the most accessible trekking routes with low altitude and distinctly enjoyable walk which makes this trek even more popular and special among the trekkers.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 2 : In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour.

Day 3 : Drive to Sundarijal & trek to Chisapani 2,300 m / 7,544 ft 04 hrs.

Day 4 : Trekking to Kutumsang 2,446 m / 8,022 ft 06 hrs.

Day 5 : Trekking to Thadepati 3,650 m / 11, 972 ft 05 hrs.

Day 6 : Trekking to Malemchigaon 2,560 m / 8,399 ft 05 hrs.

Day 7 : Trekking to Tarke Gyang 2,590 m / 8,497ft 05 hours.

Day 8 : Tarke-Ghyang to Sermathang 2,610 m / 8,563 ft 04 hours

Day 9 : Trekking to Malemchi Bazaar and to Kathmandu 04 hrs, 04 hrs drive
